EU CBAM Readiness and Embedded Emissions Reporting Training
A one-day programme for Malaysian manufacturers and exporters whose goods are captured by the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. CBAM's definitive regime applies from 1 January 2026, which moves the topic out of the sustainability team's future-watch list and into the export desk's current compliance workload. The legal obligation sits with the EU importer as authorised CBAM declarant, but the data that obligation runs on has to come from the production site in Malaysia.
The programme is built around the request your customer will send you rather than around the text of the regulation. Embedded Emissions: The Core Concept
Direct and indirect embedded emissions, system boundaries drawn at installation level, and the split between production processes. Why embedded emissions are not the same thing as a corporate GHG inventory under the GHG Protocol, and why a company-level Scope 1 and 2 figure cannot answer a question about one tonne of product. The unit of measure that matters and the denominator problem most sites hit first.

Calculating Embedded Emissions
Monitoring at installation level, attributing emissions to production processes, and allocating those emissions to the goods produced. Adding the embedded emissions of purchased precursors. Activity data and emission factors, calculation-based versus measurement-based approaches, and the treatment of waste gases and heat. Where default values apply, and why relying on them is usually the expensive option.

The Supplier Data Pack
What the EU importer actually asks for and in what format. The operational data the plant needs to be capturing now: fuel and electricity consumption by process, production tonnage, precursor purchases and their declared embedded emissions. Assigning ownership between production, engineering, procurement and finance, and designing a pack that can be regenerated each period from records that already exist.

The role of accredited verifiers under the definitive regime and what they will test. How the EU importer purchases and surrenders CBAM certificates, how the certificate price tracks EU ETS allowances, and the deduction available where a carbon price has already been paid in the country of production. Modelling the landed cost impact on a shipment, and how that cost tends to get negotiated between exporter and importer.
