Data Engineering & Pipelines

The backbone of any real analytics function. This course gives analysts and aspiring engineers the mental model of how data moves, from source to warehouse to dashboard, covering ETL, SQL and warehousing, batch versus streaming, and how pipelines are orchestrated and monitored.

Aimed at analysts moving toward engineering and at IT staff who have inherited data movement without a formal background in it. The course builds the mental model first, tracing how data travels from source systems through transformation into a warehouse and out to reporting, then covers the components in turn: extraction patterns, transformation logic, warehouse design, and the difference between batch and streaming. Orchestration, scheduling, dependency management and monitoring get proper attention, because an unmonitored pipeline that fails silently is worse than no pipeline. Participants finish having designed a pipeline for a realistic scenario, including how it fails and how anyone would know.

02

SQL & Warehousing

The SQL you need for analytics, star schemas, and how a modern warehouse is organised.

03

Batch vs Streaming

When to process in batches and when you need near-real-time streams, with simple examples of each.

04

Pipeline Orchestration

Scheduling, dependencies, failure handling and monitoring so pipelines run reliably without babysitting.

Key Outcomes
