Containers & Kubernetes Basics
One of the most in-demand modern deployment skills. Participants learn what containers are and why they matter, get hands-on with Docker fundamentals, understand Kubernetes architecture, and deploy a sample app to a cluster, the same pattern used in production everywhere.
Aimed at developers, sysadmins and platform staff who need to work with containers rather than only read about them. The course starts with the problem containers solve, then moves through images, registries, Dockerfiles and container lifecycle before introducing Kubernetes. Kubernetes coverage stays at the level that matters for getting an application running and keeping it running: pods, deployments, services, config and secrets, scaling, and reading logs and events when something will not start. The session is deliberately honest about complexity, including when a managed service or a simpler platform is the better answer than running a cluster yourself.
HRD Corp SBL-Khas Claimable
Programme Modules
Container Concepts
Images vs containers, why they solve 'works on my machine', and the basics of a container runtime.
Docker Fundamentals
Building images with a Dockerfile, running containers, and pushing to a registry.
Kubernetes Architecture
Pods, nodes, deployments, services and the control plane, what each piece does.
Deploy a Sample App
Participants containerise and deploy a sample app to a Kubernetes cluster and expose it.
Key Outcomes
- Explain containers and their benefits
- Build and run Docker images
- Describe Kubernetes architecture
- Deploy an app to a cluster
